Step into a unique, hands-on learning experience at the SCS Annual Meeting 2026.
The Surgical Escape Room is an innovative, interactive format designed specifically for surgeons and medical professionals. Combining clinical simulation with gamification, it challenges participants to solve realistic surgical scenarios under time pressure – just like in real clinical practice.
Escape rooms are increasingly used in medical education to strengthen teamwork, decision-making and clinical reasoning skills through immersive, problem-based learning environments.
Concept & Experience
Participants enter a purpose-built simulation environment consisting of four themed surgical rooms, each presenting a different clinical challenge:
Working in small teams of up to four participants, you will solve puzzles, interpret clinical clues and make decisions under time pressure to “escape” the scenario. Each room requires a combination of technical skills, communication and critical thinking.
The experience is designed to be both educational and engaging, offering a dynamic complement to the traditional congress programme.
Why Participate?
The Surgical Escape Room provides:
- A hands-on, practice-oriented learning environment
- Training of decision-making in high-pressure situations
- Strengthening of interdisciplinary teamwork
- An engaging and memorable congress experience
Simulation-based escape rooms have been shown to enhance engagement, knowledge retention and team performance in healthcare settings.
